Create the luck of the Irish with this delicious herb bread sure to bring good vibes.


  • 1 3/4 c buttermilk
    1 T lemon juice
    4 1/4 c all-purpose flour
    4 T sugar
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    5 T unsalted butter (cold & diced)
    1 cup golden raisins
    2 tsp herb de Provence
    zest of one medium lemon


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Add buttermilk and lemon juice together. Set aside.
  2. Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, herb. Stir. Cut butter into dry ingredients until a coarse crumb. Add raisins. Stir.
  3. Make a well. Pour buttermilk and lemon juice in well. Fold dough gently. The dough will be crumbly and difficult to stir. Place dough on floured work surface. Make a ball. Knead briefly until all is incorporated. (about 35 secs.)
  4. Place dough on a parchment-lined cake or cast iron pan. With a serrated knife cut a deep "X" on the top of the bread. This will allow the heat in. Lightly cover with foil. Bake for 25 minutes. Bake an additional 25 minutes without foil. Check doneness with a wooden stick. Should come out clean.
  5. Serve with Irish Stew. Recipe on website. Enjoy!
